General Statement of Duties: Responsible for assisting the Kids Place Site Director in the care and nurturing of children and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment in a licensed school age childcare classroom.
Job Responsibilities:
- Daily classroom management ensuring the safety and welfare of each student.
- Implements and supervises activities planned by Site Director based on the needs and interests of each child.
- Completes daily documentation, including attendance and incident reports.
- Maintains required training and certifications.
Performance Expectations:
- Creates and promotes a warm and welcoming environment for both parents and children.
- Assists Site Director in ensuring classroom meets all Ohio Department of job and Family Services Child Care Licensing rules and Step Up to Quality Standards.
- Interacts with parents, children, school personnel, and YWCA staff in a positive, professional, and cooperative manner; refer appropriate questions or concerns to the Site Director.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One year experience in childcare or children's programs. 12 months of ECE, youth related or special needs experience
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven ability to work effectively with staff, parents, school personnel, and other professionals. Patience, energy and ability to work in an unpredictable environment. Demonstrated desire to work with children and commitment to profession. Must have strong knowledge of appropriate practices for youth. Must be mentally and physically able to carry out duties and recognize and act upon any hazards to a child’s safety and well-being. Strong work ethics including trustworthiness and dependability. Understanding of Department of Youth Child Care Licensing Rules and Ohio Step Up to Quality initiatives.
Required Trainings:
- Employee Health and Safety Trainings.
- Onboarding and ongoing trainings via ADP (YWCA organizational trainings).
- Ohio Childcare Resource and Referral Agency (DCY childcare licensing trainings).
